Minseon Kim
I am a PhD student in Computer Science at North Carolina State University, advised by Prof. Jung-Eun Kim. My research focuses on developing adaptive AI models that can learn and evolve efficiently. I study Continual Learning, designing cost-efficient algorithms that enable neural networks to acquire new knowledge sequentially without catastrophic forgetting. In parallel, I explore Machine Unlearning and efficient post-training strategies for Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs), aiming to build trustworthy and responsible AI systems.
Prior to joining NC State, I received both my MSc in Data Science and BSc in Industrial Engineering [Information Technology Management] from Seoul National University of Science and Technology (Seoul Tech), under the supervision of Prof. Hyuk-Yoon Kwon. I was also a visiting student at the Distributed Data Intensive Systems Lab at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in 2024, hosted by Prof. Ling Liu. My long-term goal is to build systems that can reliably connect humans with machine learning technologies in alignment with their intentions.
